Keep your Coggins paper easy to find
Save the complete paper with the right horse and source dates.
Keep the complete document
A Coggins record is easier to use when the original paper is readable and attached to the right horse. Save every page that belongs to the document. Check the identifying details, recorded test date, result and issuing information against the source.
Keep a clear original file when one is available. If you use a photograph, include all edges of the page and check small print before saving. Do not crop away stamps, signatures or identifying details.
Separate the record from the requirement
Your saved paper records what the source says. Whether it meets a particular destination or event requirement is a separate question. Check directly with the relevant authority or organizer before travel, and ask your veterinarian about testing questions.
Do not assume a reminder or a date calculation proves acceptance. Requirements can depend on the destination, purpose and current rules. Tackroom does not invent a validity period or turn a draft rule into a compliance verdict.
Save and retrieve it in Tackroom
Add the horse first. Open the Coggins form, enter the details from the paper and attach the file. Review the horse and dates before saving. Find it again in Records to make sure the attachment opens.
Free can use its one starter-paper allowance for a Coggins record. Corrections and replacement versions of that same starter paper do not consume another allowance. A separate additional paper requires Plus.
Prepare before leaving
Check the file while you still have a connection and time to resolve a missing attachment. Keep any original or official format the recipient requires. Exporting a copy does not change what the issuer or destination accepts.
If a new test replaces an older one, keep the earlier record and label the new paper clearly. Set any reminder using a date you have confirmed with the appropriate source.
