Tackroom
Privacy notice
The backup, recovery, deletion and ride instructions below describe version 1.0.1. Version 1.0 remains available while the update is prepared. In version 1.0, automatic backup does not use the new explicit choice, cloud recovery omits some records and attachment files, and rides need the recording screen to stay active. Keep original papers and a portable export before deleting records or changing devices.
Tackroom stores your working records on your device. You choose whether to make private iCloud backups, share care information or enable optional diagnostics.
Effective October 2, 2026
Who is responsible
Joao Vitor Humenhuk Achutti operates Tackroom. Contact tackroom@thesmios.com for privacy questions or rights requests.
Records and private backups
Horse profiles, care and health history, documents, attachments, reminders, expenses and drafts are saved on your device. Automatic iCloud backup starts only after you explicitly enable it. You can make a manual backup without enabling automatic backup.
A completed backup includes supported records, pending owner actions and available attachment files in your private CloudKit storage. Failed or missing-file attempts are shown as incomplete. Tackroom retains up to five completed snapshots. Disabling automatic backup stops new automatic uploads and keeps existing backups.
CloudKit uses your Apple account. The app accesses its private container with Apple’s APIs. Tackroom does not operate a separate server that stores your private horse library.
Sharing and exported copies
Care Circle uses Apple CloudKit sharing. Information you select for a shared care view, participant identity and queued actions pass through Apple and become available to the current members of that share. Membership and Apple identity are checked before queued shared actions are replayed.
You choose where to send a PDF or portable archive. Recipients can keep exported copies. Restoring a backup does not restore sharing permissions or grant access to another owner’s records.
Device permissions and location
Camera, photos and file access let you attach papers. Text scanning processes images on the device. Voice capture uses on-device Apple speech recognition on supported devices. Calendar access is used only when you choose to link reminders. Notifications are scheduled on the device.
Ride recording requests location access when you begin. Background recording requires background location permission. Foreground-only recording pauses when the app moves into the background. Routes and recording gaps are saved on the device and can be included in your backups. Ending a ride stops collection. Force quitting stops recording.
Weather requests use Apple WeatherKit and a location when you request local conditions. App lock uses Apple’s authentication interface. Tackroom does not receive your biometric template. Optional Siri, Spotlight and widgets can display selected information outside the app.
Payments, diagnostics and the website
Apple handles subscription purchases, payment details, restoration and billing. The app reads verified entitlement information to determine access. Tackroom does not receive your payment card details.
Optional crash reporting uses Sentry and optional product analytics uses PostHog only after the relevant setting is enabled. Both choices can be changed in Settings. Local activation progress and review-request eligibility stay on the device. This update does not enable new analytics collection.
The website host processes normal request information, such as IP addresses and browser information, to deliver and protect the site. Optional website analytics requires explicit consent and a configured provider. Calculator inputs are processed in your browser. Email support processes the message and contact information you choose to send.
Tackroom does not sell personal information, use advertising SDKs or use your horse records for advertising.
Retention, deletion and your choices
Records remain until you remove them. Health corrections preserve the original history. Use Reports to export your data on any plan.
Delete records starts resumable cleanup. The app first validates local deletion and removes private backups, backup assets and owned Care Circle data. It leaves joined shares without deleting another owner’s records. Local records and attachments remain until remote cleanup succeeds. The screen identifies any unfinished phase and lets you retry after relaunch.
Completed deletion clears local records, managed files, notifications, discovery caches and account bindings. It does not cancel an Apple subscription or recall exported copies, another device’s local library or support emails. Contact tackroom@thesmios.com about information you sent by email.
Rights and safeguards
Depending on the law that applies to you, you may have rights to access, correct, erase, restrict, object to processing or receive a portable copy. You may withdraw optional consent without affecting earlier lawful processing. Contact tackroom@thesmios.com to exercise a right or raise a concern. You can also contact your relevant privacy regulator.
The app uses device protections and Apple’s cloud services. Optional service providers process information under their applicable terms and safeguards, including where processing crosses borders. No storage system guarantees absolute security. Keep your device, Apple account and exported copies protected.
Tackroom is intended for adults responsible for horses. Material changes to this notice will be dated here and explained where required.
