Set horse care reminders you can trust

Use confirmed dates and keep completed care separate from reminders.

Choose the source of the date

A useful reminder starts with a confirmed date or a clear task to arrange one. Use the appointment, provider’s instructions or original paper as the source. Do not guess a medical or regulatory interval.

Give the reminder a specific title. “Book Juniper’s farrier visit” is clearer than “Farrier” when no appointment exists. Include the horse and the practical action the reminder is asking you to take.

Keep reminders and records separate

A reminder says something needs attention. A care record says what happened. Completing a reminder does not prove that a document is accepted, a treatment was given or a horse is compliant with a rule.

After care takes place, save the actual details and supporting paper where appropriate. If a task is delayed, reschedule it. If it no longer applies, use the appropriate skip or correction flow instead of marking work complete by accident.

Check notification access

In Tackroom, create a reminder for the horse and check it appears in Schedule or Today. Enable notifications when you want an alert. Device settings, Focus modes and Apple’s delivery behavior can affect when you see it.

Keep checking the app for important care. A notification is a prompt, not a guarantee of delivery. If an alert is missing, check the reminder date and time zone, then the app’s notification permission in Settings.

Keep the list useful

Review overdue items regularly. A long list of forgotten reminders makes the next real task harder to find. Separate an appointment from a task to call and book one.

Free includes care reminders for its active horse. For paper dates, save the source with the record and use a confirmed date for the reminder. Tackroom’s date tools calculate from your inputs and do not supply veterinary or regulatory rules.
